In the early 1970s the Church of England, Methodist, Baptist & United Reformed Churches worked together to create a space where they could each hold their services. It was decided that the space would be comprised of not just a chapel but a large hall, kitchen & dining space as well as various offices & classrooms allowing for an array of activities to take place within the one building.
Over the years the centre has held an array of activities to serve the whole community, hosting weddings & christenings, parties & suppers as well as clubs & classes; some of which still run from the centre today! Alongside all events & activities, ‘the church at the centre’ has run almost consistently, either in person or online, welcoming multiple reverends & people of all faiths.
Today, the centre is owned & managed by a board of trustees, run by a team of staff & volunteers & is led by the Centre Manager.
The building continues to home several charitable organisations, CIC's, groups & church services whilst also hosting, developing & delivering a range of activities & initiatives to help serve the Skelmersdale community & beyond!
